Use Meta tags effectively for your advantage
Meta Tags: Meta tags are the HTML tags which are used on a HTML page to provide information about the content of the web page where they are used. Commonly used Meta tags are Title tag, Description tag, Keyword tag.
Meta tags are critical part of the SEO process. One needs to use then effectively. Selecting the right tag can make or break your entire SEO exercise to get listed in top search results.
During the initial days of internet, search engines were solely relying on meta tags about the information regarding the page on which meta tags were placed. This was misused by the webmasters to get their website rank higher and hence post 2000 era, search engines have reduced the dependency on these tags. The tags are still relevant as they provide the basic information to search engine crawlers about the nature of the web page. Majority of search engines have evolved their own algorithms to crawl the web pages and they have their own mechanism where they use the combination of Meta tags and the page content to arrive at certain weight age which is used to place a particular web page in search results.
